SwitchKit - Converged Services Administrator
A Powerful Environment for Application Programming
and OAM&P
SwitchKit - Converged Services Administrator offers
a high-level software development environment that speeds application
developmnet on Cantata Excel platforms. It also provides a set of
integrated tools for Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and
Provisioning (OAM&P).
New OAM Interfaces and Functionality
SwitchKit now offers the following new interfaces
for OAM&P:
webCSA – A browser-based graphical
user interface (GUI) that is compatible across all platforms supported
by SwitchKit. WebCSA includes user authentication levels for Configuring,
Provisioning and Monitoring on an Excel platform. Because webCSA
is data driven, aspects of the screens may be customized for specific
carrier customers. Customizable features include object names and
descriptions, default values, and pulldown parameters.
openCSA – An XML application
interface into the configuration aspects of SwitchKit, which allows
developers to integrate SwitchKit into their Management platform.
eventCSA – A graphical process
for monitoring alarms and events as they occur on an Excel platform.
High-Level Development Environment
SwitchKit is a high-level application development
environment. Developers can use C and C++ instead of lower-level
APIs, which dramatically improves time-to-market for initial development,
modifications, and upgrades. SwitchKit also includes the SwitchKit
Interface Module (SKIM) and the SwitchKit TCAP Abstraction Layer
(SKTAL). SKIM and SKTAL are higher level APIs that further speed
development of IN applications. Both of these APIs are optional
and are offered at no extra charge.
SKIM API – SKIM abstracts
services from the TCAP and SCCP layers to a transaction-based application.
It abstracts details of the SS7 TCAP protocol and abstracts TCAP
from error handling. The SKIM API provides some error handling,
tracks active dialogues, and invoke IDs, operation types, and operation
codes.
SKTAL API – SKTAL is used to
create a generic view of the TCAP layer, so that the underlying
stack can be used with the TCAP C++ API. SKTAL allows the SwitchKit
TCAP user to easily interface with Intelligent Network (IN) wireless
application layer protocol APIs (GSM-MAP, ANSI-41, WIN, and CAMEL).
SwitchKit VoiceXML Interface Module
– (SK VIM) is responsible for routing calls between a call
processing application and a VoiceXML application. The SK VIM receives
a call, translates call-processing-specific data to VoiceXML-specific
data, and routes the call to the VoiceXML Server. On call termination,
the SK VIM transfers the call back to the call processing application,
ensuring that proper CDR information is collected and that calls
are properly terminated.
